Roles in test

The term tester describes in general a specialist involved in tests of components or systems. Since this term is a very general one, two additional terms are used.

A test analyst is a specialist that derives test cases e.g. from requirements or other sources for the component or the system to be tested, called System under Test (SUT for short). The test analyst thus focuses on specialist aspects and efficiency of tests.

A technical test analyst is a specialist with a strong technical orientation. The technical test analyst is involved in testing not only related to the functionality of systems. Performance tests must e.g. be mentioned here. In addition, such a person is a specialist for the development of automated tests. The technical test analyst usually has software development skills.
