Opening decision tables from LF‑ET 1.x.x
The first version of LF‑ET (LF‑ET 1.x.x) was implemented in the 4GL Natural on the mainframe computer and decision tables were saved in a corresponding database as text objects in a special format.
In later versions LF‑ET 1.x.x could be used on a PC, however, a paid Natural runtime environment from Software AG was necessary so that possible applications of this LF‑ET version were essentially limited to existing customers of Software AG. This was thus the reason for LF ET to develop a completely new and generally available platform: LF ET 2.x.x is a pure Java application.
In order for decision tables that were created and maintained with LF‑ET 1.x.x to be able to be opened with LF‑ET 2.x.x, they must first be exported from LF‑ET 1.x.x.
