Each value is uniquely defined by a symbol in the value table:

Entries in the Value column affect the column width of the rules in the decision table, and we recommend a maximum length of 3 to 5 characters. As a result, the tabular nature of the decision table is retained and even more extensive decision tables are still easy to read.

There is no limit on the number of values within a value table in LF‑ET.
The 'else-value' in the case of conditions
In principle, the last value of a condition should always have the meaning 'else', i.e. this 'else' value applies to all values that do not match any of the values defined in the table.
To underline the 'else' nature, this value is often shown as '*' or '?'.
Exception: In rare cases (as in this example), where it is clear that the defined values are guaranteed to cover all theoretically possible values of the condition without gaps, the 'else' value can be skipped.
