Deleting cell contents, rows or columns

There are several possibilities of deleting deci­sion ta­ble elements – these are described in detail in the following sections.

Deleting cell contents

Using the keyboard

  • Select a rule cell and press one of the keys: Delete, Backspace, MINUS or SPACE.

Using the context menu

  • Select a rule cell and retrieve the context menu (right mouse click). Select “\{No value}” from the value table.

The minus sign is displayed as the irrelevance indicator in the cell after deletion.

Deleting rows

Using the menu bar

  1. Select the desired row.

  2. Select Delete from the Edit menu in order to delete it.

Using the icon bar

  1. Select the desired row.

  2. In the icon bar click Delete 01 in order to delete it.

Using the context menu

  1. Select the desired row.

  2. In order to delete it, click the right mouse button and select Delete from the context menu.

Using keyboard shortcut

  1. Select the desired row.

  2. Use CTRL + X to delete the row and copy it to clip­board.

Deleting columns

Using the menu bar

  1. Select one or more columns.

  2. Select Delete from the Edit menu in order to delete it.

Using the icon bar

  1. Select one or more columns.

  2. In order to delete click Delete 01 in the icon bar.

Using the context menu

  1. Select one or more columns.

  2. In order to delete, right click and select Delete from the context menu.

Using keyboard shortcuts

  1. Select one or more columns.

  2. Use CTRL + X to delete the row and copy it to clipboard.

Important notes

  • Individual cells cannot be deleted. Only entire rows or columns can be deleted.

  • Empty cell contents are not allowed. A condition or action must have a title, a rule cell needs to have a value or an irrelevance indicator.

  • Several selected columns can also be deleted.

  • The delete function takes into account the minimum size of a deci­sion ta­ble: 1‑condition, 2‑actions, 2‑rules. The deletion of conditions/actions/rules is only allowed/active if after deleting:

    • at least one condition exists,

    • at least two actions or one action with at least two values remain, and

    • at least two rules exist.
